My favorite thing about making music is the experience/ feeling of completion once all the hard work is shown on stage; showing our passion and love as the final product.
Biography
Diamond Sparks, mezzo-soprano, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, has been known to “have an innate vocal gift as well as the tremendous work ethic…Her singing pierces your heart, and you know without a doubt that there is real passion, love, disappointment, hurt and strength all wrapped up in it (Rebecca Rutsky).”
This past season, Diamond performed as a chorus member with Cincinnati Opera in the productions of Don Giovanni, La Traviata, and Liverpool Oratorio. Previously, Diamond has performed the role of Bianca in Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). During Diamond’s undergraduate studies, she performed roles such as Prince Charmant in Cendrillon with the University of South Alabama (USA) while also performing with Mobile Opera as a Developing Young Artist Scholarship recipient, receiving an honorable mention in the Madame Rose Vocal Competition Scholarship, and chorus member for operas such as La Rondine, L’elisir d’amore, Tosca, and Carmen. Diamond has also performed with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra as a chorus member for pieces such as: Brahms' Requiem, Beethoven's Calm Seas and Prosperous Voyage, and Caroline Shaw’s Music in Common Time.
Diamond has also traveled internationally with the Vienna Summer Music Festival to perform in Le nozze di Figaro as Marcellina, Pluto as Mars, The Loathly Lady as Queen Guenevere, and The Carnival of the Animals: Improv Opera as Travina.
Diamond received her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from USA, and is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Voice Performance at CCM, studying with Dr. Gwendolyn Coleman in hopes of pursuing a prosperous career.
